Kids with different attitudes
Learning about art in college opened my eyes to all the different ways around the world that people express themselves. The different art periods and mediums and styles to me was a wonderful world to explore, and that how magnificent art can be.
Illustration is my favorite, it is better than working in a dark room but just as magical to see the images appear when you are the artist. I am always drawing in a sketchbook playing around with ideas and character development. The images posted here are studies of teenagers I drew and painted in pencil and water color. I try to and can’t help but put attitude into my characters. People are such different creatures, ethnicity, age, gender. all the intricacies that make us unique. I have been an illustrator for many years because I love artwork and I like to draw and love to work in many mediums not always at once, but I have done some mixed media pieces. It is a way for me to express myself to release what I have on my mind. Imagination can be a great thing. I think it’s fun and magical.
Children’s book illustration is a field I am trying to break in to. Illustration is a way to describe in images the story or moment. I read the story again and again to try and visualize the scenes that show up in my imagination. I grew up with children’s books, great illustration and great books. Though there are many great children’s book illustrators. A few of my favorite illustrators that give me awe and inspiration is N.C. Wyeth, I grew up with his woodcuts and black and white illustrations, his paintings beautiful. Patricia Polacco has such whimsy and large bold shapes, great color choice she creates magical images, and Norman Rockwell. Most people know That Norman Rockwell Painted an image for the front cover of Saturday Evening Post for many years. The simple moments he would capture, again and again. Beautifully crafted. Causing a smile. Saying something delightful in a picture without words.

Trying to look cool.
