About Me

Large Faux Anchor

Sandra Dingée is a multi-talented artist, responsible and hardworking, proficient in drawing, illustration, design & color. A published freelance artist, illustrator & photographer, living happily in Rhode Island, doing business as “Aye Images” 1990 to present.

High school offered photography and the opportunity to work in a dark room. It was fun to watch the images appear, like magic. I purchased and learned how to use a 35mm camera,  I printed photographs for an aerial photographer and attended the Newport Folk Festival a couple of years with a press pass for photography. I am currently selling prints of my favorite photos.

I attended Montserrat College of Art 1976-1980 www.montserrat.edu It was there a brief demonstration on hand lettering sparked my interest. The professor said that if you learn to letter, you can get a job anywhere you live. I was learning to sail and was planning to live on a boat and travel. This was perfect for me, so in Gloucester Massachusetts I began lettering boats and signs.

In Maine I owned and operated a craft shop with my mother called “I Wish” Seasonally open for about 30 yrs. This is where the product Ideas were developed. Card packages, T shirts, paintings & prints.

My mom was quite the gardener and taught me the love of growing plants. I worked a year full time at a garden nursery. I then started a gardening business  tending about 12 gardens at one point. Last year I started working part time at a nearby nursery. I am hoping this year I can do more garden designs there.

I enjoy and collect children’s books. I am a full member of the Society of Children’s books writers and illustrator’s 1993 to present. www.scbwi.org
