The Great blue heron is the largest heron native to North America about 4 feet tall and weighs only 5- 6 pounds. They are quite adaptable and may even be seen in heavily developed areas as long as they have fish bearing water to feed. They nest in colonies, usually in trees. I love the way herons of any kind walk or strut. So cool !
